Due to this movies from different parts of the world are getting acknowledged on a international platform. But the fans have a hard time following movies, which are in language they are not fluent in. Now here subtitles play a major role in helping this movie fans. But many of the fans think that subtitles have to be integrated in the movies before hand, but this is not true. This tutorial will explain to you how you can download subtitle files and play them with the movies. So lets get started.
Searching Subtitles
There are many sites which provide free subtitles, but the one which i feel most useful is www.subscene.com.
Downloadable subtitles have .srt file extension and are very small in size, mostly below 200 KBs. One important thing about Subtitles is, they are mostly of two types one with frame-rate of 25 fps and other 23.976 fps. You have to check which suits your movie. If you have downloaded the movie from torrent you will most probably find the subtitle with exactly the same name, which was most likely uploaded by the movie uploader. The uploaders also provide previews of the subtitle with their timestamp, it can be very useful to choose the best file from the lot.
Playing the subtitles.
This subtitles can be easily played with the movie in VLC media player (If you don't have VLC here is the link to download it DOWNLOAD ).
Now to play the subtitle file click on "Video" , then "Subtitle Track", then "open file", browse and select the subtitle file and open it. After a pause the subtitles will start playing.
Synchronizing
If the subtitles does not match with the dialogues, then try subtitles with different frame-rate. If it still doesn't work Go to "Tools" , then "Track Synchronization", a box will pop out. Try changing the subtitle speed or "Advance of subtitles over video" (this option helps you to forward or rewind the subtitles to match the dialogues, but remember for this to work the frame-rate of the subtitle should match the video) .
